The passion for wine, in Artimino, has ancient roots, already at the time of the Etruscans. In the 17th century, the Medici family continued this tradition and the wines of Carmignano, and of Artimino in particular, were recognized as among the finest of that time. In 1716, with the edict of Cosimo III, a document was written which delimited the boundaries of production, like a specification, defining them as “wines suitable for navigation”, or for export, given their longevity and quality. Since the 1980s, the Artimino estate has been owned by the Olmo family: the third generation, now at the helm, has chosen to focus on clean and responsible agriculture meeting an ancient history and centuries-old traditions. 70 hectares of splendid vineyards all around Villa Medicea La Ferdinanda (Unesco heritage), with noble vines such as Sangiovese and Cabernet, which it is said was brought to this area by Caterina de’Medici in the 16th century. Wines from a less known, more genuine Tuscany, where the times of the countryside are still the times of life.
