She likes to call them “happy family coincidences” the reasons why, in the early 70s, Alejandrina Zavala, daughter of hoteliers and restaurateurs in Irapuato (MX), moved to Italy. As soon as she arrived, she made herself available to teach the Spanish language at some institutions, both public and private. The passion for cooking, imprinted in her DNA, finds an outlet only after fifteen years as a consultant for the first Mexican-themed restaurant in Turin.
After a short time she decides to further implement the originality and genuineness of the project started by third parties and takes the “big step”, opening her own restaurant in true Mexican style and authentic cuisine. It was 1998 and the headquarters were in C.so Casale 194 in Turin; it was called Revolucion and the success was immediate and disruptive.
She soon began a collaboration directly with the Mexican embassy in Milan, thanks to the numerous reports from the many Mexicans living in the Piedmont area and customers passing through.
Today, after almost 25 years, the passion with which Alejandrina began and which she passed on to her second daughter Katia continues, occasionally allowing her to attend events outside her restaurant that tell of her beloved Mexico through the flavours and colours of traditional Mexican cuisine.
