In the plain of Marchi located in Rocca San Giovanni (CHIETI), a pleasant landscape dotted with olive trees and vineyards accompanies the traveller. It is in this place that, in 1960, Nicolino Caravaggio moved with his wife Adelina and their son Francesco, founder of the homonymous farm. The vineyards and olive groves, cultivated with organic methods, in the area adjacent to the place called “Grotta delle Farfalle”, are distributed between the Adriatic Sea and the flourishing and charming hills of Abruzzo. Here, numerous depressions create natural caves, also called ditches, which host an unchallenged variety of fauna and flora. The most interesting ditch is certainly the one called Grotta delle Farfalle which, it is said, in some periods of the year is populated by numerous butterflies. The particular exposure of the land, the proximity to the sea, the exceptional sunshine, as well as the clayey-calcareous composition of the soil, make the cultivation of vineyards particularly interesting and give life to a simple but intense wine in the senses, thanks also to the fact that in the cellar operations are limited to a minimum and nature is allowed to take its course.
