In 2012 the Municipality of Castagnole Lanze, a town of about 3000 inhabitants in the province of Asti, located between Langhe and Monferrato, launched the initiative “Adopt a row in the Lanze”. The idea came from two municipal administrators intending to promote the name and quality of Barbera wine, considered a less important wine compared to other local wines. The initiative, aimed at enhancing winemaking and the area, provides for the adoption of a minimum of 20 linear metres of rows located in the Municipality of Castagnole Lanze and the receipt of 12 bottles of Barbera “Lanze” wine with personalized back labels as desired. The grapes are subjected to strict quality controls by a body in charge during the year. There are about twenty grape suppliers, for a per capita quantity of 8 quintals. The grapes are sent to the Bel Sit cellar where the pressing and the procedure leading to the bottling and labelling of the bottles are carried out. The wine produced is of the highest quality, above all thanks to the professionalism and care required, such as the thinning that is carried out in the vineyard in the summer, aimed at favouring a better development of the remaining bunches.
